Available in HD 180 and 180 LTE
When you’re looking for a quick-deploying, one-person operation awning that provides 88 square feet of shelter, the Overland Vehicle Systems Nomadic 180 has you covered.
Unlike many awnings, the Nomadic 180 requires no poles for setup thanks to reinforced oversized hinges and heavy-duty boxed rafters. Its 280G poly-cotton rip-stop fabric with heat-sealed seams ensures complete protection from rain—no leaks, no worries.
If the weather shifts or winds pick up, deploy the three pivoting aluminum poles, adjust them with the quick-lock system, and secure with the supplied stakes and paracord. For even more protection, add the optional enclosure shelter and lock down your base camp against the elements.
When it’s time to pack up, the Nomadic 180 breaks down in minutes and stores neatly in its 1000G PVC cover.
Choose Your Version
Version | Coverage | Fabric | Structure | Weight / Packability | Ideal For |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
HD 180 | ~88 sq ft (full 180° span) | 600D poly-cotton rip-stop, heat-sealed seams | Heavy-duty boxed aluminum rafters & reinforced metal hinges | Heavier; most robust | Maximum durability, frequent use, harsher weather |
180 LTE | ~70–80 sq ft (varies by setup) | 280G poly-cotton rip-stop, heat-sealed seams | Lighter components; simplified hardware | Lightest; most compact | Weight-sensitive builds, casual/ fair-weather use |
Both versions are freestanding in calm conditions, with deployable support poles recommended as wind increases.
Key Differences Explained
-
Durability vs. Weight
- HD 180: Uses heavier 600D fabric and boxed rafters for better storm performance and long-term durability.
- 180 LTE: Drops to 280G fabric and lighter hardware to cut weight and bulk.
-
Wind/Storm Behavior
- HD 180: Stiffer frame, better at holding shape under load; still use poles/guylines when windy.
- 180 LTE: Designed to be lighter; earlier pole deployment and careful tie-down are more important in gusts.
-
Vehicle Fit & Use Case
- HD 180: Great for full-size rigs and builds that prioritize robustness.
- 180 LTE: Smart pick for mid-size rigs, lighter racks, or when you’re counting pounds and inches.
